The course requires 2 years (4 semesters), making up 120 credit units (ECTS). The first year includes the teaching component, and at the end of it the student must present the proposal for a research project. The second year is intended for the development of research and the preparation of the master’s thesis, which must be defended before a jury appointed by the Scientific Council.
The Masters in Dental Hygiene aims to provide the student with a broad set of knowledge, skills and attitudes, in order to promote sound scientific knowledge and skills for study and research in the field of Dental Hygiene, as well as, for the development of practical applications in the area of knowledge. It also provides the student with knowledge and skills that enable them to contribute to the improvement of population’s oral health and health system development, both in Portugal and in a wider scope, in the scientific, professional and citizenship fields.
