Pavilhão de Portugal

The Pavilhão de Portugal, located in Lisbon’s Parque das Nações, is classified as a Monument of Public Interest. This building, created by the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, welcomed the Portuguese national representation during the Expo 98.

Its architecture is renowned for its wide ceremonial plaza covered by a prestressed concrete roof, whose design and implementation is based on the idea of a sheet of paper based on two bricks. Apart from this impressive side of the building, the Monument also includes two floors with varying size rooms and an interior courtyard.

The Pavilhão de Portugal has been part of the of the Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) heritage since August 1st, 2015 and it is expected for this emblematic area of Lisbon to become the sight of a number of activities and events related to education, scientific research and culture, promoted by ULisboa.
