Unite! wants to pave the way for the excellence in research, innovation and education that is essential to meet the challenges of our time. Our Mission Statement 2030 embodies these commitments and is the result of a concerted effort by the entire Unite! community.
New Mission Statement 2030 leads the way forward for the coming years
Unite! University Network for Innovation, Technology and Engineering aims to reach the next level of development as a European university alliance, creating a wealth of new and unprecedented opportunities for its students, staff and partners in the coming years. Continuing its journey that began in 2019, Unite! aims to develop as a dynamic and inclusive university alliance, committed to long-term sustained collaboration and progressive integration.
This is stated in its new Unite! Mission Statement 2030 which defines the Alliance's objectives for the coming years as:
- To educate highly qualified future European and global experts and responsible citizens with key skills for the dual digital and green transition by providing innovative learning and teaching opportunities;
- Build a strong and inclusive community that promotes the free flow of ideas, broad participation and equal access to its offerings;
- Build a well-developed multilingual, virtual, physical and blended trans-European campus with seamless mobility. where its communities of students, staff and ecosystem partners will find the virtual and physical spaces, create the opportunities for learning, research and innovation, and offer the services to collaborate and team-build across Europe on a daily basis, in a multitude of formats and through many channels.
Unite! has set out this vision and goals in its new Mission Statement 2030, which the Unite! governing bodies approved in March 2022. This revised Mission Statement forms the basis for the implementation of Unite!'s Erasmus+ deployment in the current European Commission call. The Mission Statement 2030 was signed by the rectors and presidents of the nine Unite! universities and is thus an example of the already extended horizon due to the enlargement of Unite! in December 2021.
“Our societies are currently facing a multitude of challenges. Foremost, we need a return to peace in Europe. We need to revitalize the value of peaceful international dialogue and collaboration. Focusing on a sustainable future, we also have to combat climate change and shape the digital transition. Addressing the challenges of today and tomorrow requires close cooperation, both across Europe and globally. As an alliance of universities with a transdisciplinary focus on technology and innovation, we aim to provide impulses for designing these transformative processes. Unite! offers great opportunities and is of substantial added value for all our students, academics, staff, and, ultimately, for our societies. We are determined to shape the future of our alliance. All members of our communities are motivated to reach out for new horizons for Unite!.”
Tanja Brühl, Unite!’s president
Given the approval of this proposal by the European Commission this summer, Unite! will start the new year with many unique and new actions such as: activities to support Unite! members through seed funding to form communities bottom-up and seize new opportunities in research; create a bustling and inclusive community of Unite! students with active involvement and engagement and a strong sense of belonging; implement the Unite! Doctoral School in its focus areas; broaden and enrich our open innovation community for the digital and green transition with new associated partners.
