Aerospace Engineering has played an increasingly important role in the 21st century, through the development of different types of vehicles such as airplanes, helicopters, robotised aircraft and the air traffic management itself. It also brings us closer to Space, particularly through the development of rockets and satellites, thus contributing to the improvement of communication channels. The role of an Aerospace Engineer is to design and conceive air and space vehicles, as well as to develop all associated support and control systems.

Objectives

At the end of the degree, the student must have developed knowledge and skills to:
• conceive, design, manufacture and operate aerospace engineering systems and products in a creative, critical, autonomous and interdisciplinary way, incorporating the latest technological innovations.
• solve engineering problems in broad and multidisciplinary contexts, in the scope of the design of products, equipment and systems subject to technological, economic, social and environmental constraints.
• deal with complex aerospace engineering problems, collecting, selecting and interpreting relevant information and integrating knowledge in order to obtain solutions or make judgments, taking into account the ethical and social implications and responsibilities.
• develop interaction skills that allow dealing with professional situations in a wide range of industrial organizations, services and research and that involve very different cultural and educational levels.

Career prospects
No estrangeiro a Airbus, British Aerospace, CASA, Rolls-Royce, Safran, CERN,ESA, Eurocontrol.
