Chemical Engineering is the branch of engineering which deals with production technologies that use chemical processing. The doctoral program in Chemical Engineering of DEQ aims at the scientific solution of problems relating to the renovation of the classical processing industries, as well as the development of new processes in such different and promising areas as nanotechnologies, renewable energies, artificial organs, biocompatible polymers, semiconductors and others, with major impact on the future satisfaction of human needs.

Objectives

The objective of the doctoral program is to give the students a solid, transdisciplinary and advanced education in Chemical Engineering, which will prepare them for leadership in a carrier in engineering, and providing them with the capability of developing independent research and development projects..

Career prospects
Doctors in Chemical Engineering are particularly prepared to carry out scientific and technological research and development, as well as consulting entrepreneurship in the field of Chemical Engineering. Major areas include: the chemical and petrochemical processing, Pharmaceuticals, food processing, environmental protection and clean technologies, new materials, cosmetics, textiles and biotechnology.
National Admission Exams
Having a background in Chemistry or Biochemistry is an excellent starting point for a Ph.D. in Chemistry. Nonetheless, candidates holding a science and/or technology certificate at the 2 nd cycle level who are attracted to Chemistry may be accepted, since the doctoral program can be tailored to fill potential gaps in their qualifications.
