Cognitive and Social Psychology
1
The cycle of studies leading to a master's degree in Cognitive and Social Psychology corresponds to 120 ECTS and a normal duration of 4 semesters, comprising:
a) a specialization course, consisting of an organized set of curricular units called a master's course, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
b) a dissertation of a scientific nature corresponding to 30 ECTS; and an internship and the corresponding final report (30 ECTS).
The main goals of this master are to provide the necessary competences to do research and to intervene in the areas of Cognitive and Social Psychology (CogSocPsy). The cognitive perspective of human behavior stems from the idea that any human competence can only be fully elucidated when we are able to specify the mental schemata underlying how the information is represented in memory, how these representations are implemented, and which are the mental processes that operate on them.
This master provides the necessary knowledge to qualify as an organizational psychologist in accordance with the specifications of the Portuguese Psychologists Association (OPP). This Master’s program prepares students for a variety of interventions in the areas of basic and applied research and in the areas of environment psychology, juridical psychology, consumer behavior and behavioral economics.
